The Stuart Yacht & Country Club was the first gated community and country club in Martin County, with ground breaking in the late 1960s. It was front-page news at the time and quite a boon to the sleepy town of Stuart.

The Dick Wilson-designed golf course was updated in 2006 by Ed Seay (Arnold Palmer Designs) and Tom Walker (Gary Player Designs) and was the first area course to use Champion Greens. The course is friendly for the beginner, yet challenging for the low-handicapper. The club's formal dining room and grill room have earned a reputation as one of the area's finest restaurants.Located at the Sports Complex are six well-maintained Har-Tru tennis courts, of which two courts are lighted for evening play. The tennis program offers men's, ladies', mixed events, inter-club league activity, as well as private and group lessons.
Croquet has grown among the Yacht & Country Club members and includes members of all ages. The addition of a second court in 2004 resulted in the ranking of The Yacht & Country Club among the top croquet associations on the Treasure Coast. Different levels of competition are offered with Golf Croquet and 6-Wicket Croquet.
The Fitness Center overlooks the pool area and is light and bright for an uplifting workout experience. Free weights along with state-of-the-art equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, strength training equipment, etc.) give you an opportunity for a well-rounded workout whether looking for heart-healthy aerobics, toning, or just because it makes you feel good.
The Yacht & Country Club offers an active Yacht Club with direct ocean access via Crooked Creek. The members are able to fine tune all aspects of their boating and yachting skills as well as have fun. Open to boaters and non-boaters alike, the YCC Yacht Club activities include interaction with other local yacht clubs for boatacades, beach picnics, cruises, and fishing tournaments.
The community has 550 homesites with more than 100 on the deep-water access canal. Private docks wait for your next aquatic adventure whether to a beach picnic, lunch at a neighboring yacht club, a weekend in the Keys, or a fishing tournament.
