Golf Course Upgrades Lift Community Experience
Golf course upgrades and improvements are happening at GolfCourseHome.com golf communities in concert with the current rise in new course construction.
Case in point, within the last three years (roughly 2023–2026), several GCH South Carolina golf communities have completed or initiated significant course renovations:
Recent & Completed Renovations (2023–2026)

Moss Creek, Hilton Head Island, SC.
>> Moss Creek, Hilton Head Island: Reopened its North Course in October 2025 following an extensive eight-month renovation by architect John Fought.
The project included rebuilding all tees and greens to USGA specifications, installing a new irrigation and drainage system, and re-grassing with TifEagle Bermuda greens and Celebration Bermuda fairways. Send me more information about Moss Creek
>> Sun City Hilton Head/Riverbend, Bluffton: Completed a $4 million renovation of the Okatie Creek Golf Course in October 2025.
Improvements featured complete re-grassing, restoring greens to their original size, and installing 25 miles of new drainage. The practice facility was also expanded by 50%. Send me more information about Riverbend
Golf Course Upgrades: Ongoing & Multi-Year Programs
>> Callawassie Island, Okatie, SC: Is in the final stages of a three-year renovation program covering all 27 holes. The project, scheduled for completion in 2024–2025, includes restoring putting surfaces, repairing green surrounds for drainage and re-grassing tee complexes. Send me more information about Callawassie Island
>> Dataw Island and Colleton River Club also noted significant improvements. Colleton River’s recent focus, however, has been on its Dye clubhouse and sports areas rather than the courses themselves. Send me more information about Dataw Island.
New Course Openings
>> Palmetto Bluff, Blufton: Anson Point, a private, member-only course designed by architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, enjoyed a soft opening on January 2, 2026.
The conservation-centric course unfolds across more than 500 acres of preserved land. It was intentionally designed without any residential development, a rarity in luxury golf communities, underscoring Palmetto Bluff’s deep commitment to conservation of the area’s iconic eco-system.
