3 Tom Fazio-Designed Golf Courses Showcase Their New Looks
Three of the Tom Fazio-designed golf courses featured on Golf Course Home have a new attitude.
Communities are continually looking to up the ante in the race to attract golfers and new residents and these renovations are turning heads.
The communities listed below feature three Tom Fazio-designed courses that have undergone significant renovations, redesigns, or major upgrades over the past four years (2022–2026). Plus, there’s one Special Mention.
Moss Creek Golf Club
Hilton Head Island, SC
Moss Creek’s Tom Fazio courses offer plenty of water views.
The private golf and marina community‘s North Course—originally designed by Tom Fazio—reopened in October 2025 after a comprehensive eight-month renovation.
Led by architect John Fought, the project rebuilt all tees and greens to USGA specifications, introduced premium TifEagle Bermuda grass, installed a brand-new irrigation and drainage network, and entirely overhauled the bunker layouts to improve playability and strategy.

Reynolds Lake Oconee
Greensboro, GA
Reynolds Lake Ocone’s Richland course is the lakefront community’s newest Tom Fazio-designed golf course.
In late 2024, Tom Fazio celebrated with the residents at Reynolds Lake Oconee the debut of his major addition and reconfiguration of the Richland Course.
The layout integrates nine, completely new Fazio-designed holes with the existing Bluff nine from his original 27-hole National Course.
As part of this expansion, the original Bluff holes were heavily upgraded with reshaped greens, revamped bunkers, capillary liners and low-mow chipping areas.

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort
Hilton Head Island, SC
Oceanfront golf is a primary pursuit at Palmetto Dunes.
The Palmetto Dunes course received a major conditioning upgrade in 2024. It was designed by Tom Fazio’s uncle George Fazio and is heavily tied to the Fazio family’s architectural lineage,
All 18 greens were completely regrassed with Diamond Zoysia turf, paired with ongoing bunker restorations and a modernized golf cart fleet across the resort.
Palmetto Dunes is a world-class, oceanfront resort community often called the “jewel in the crown of Hilton Head Island.”

Governor’s Land
Williamsburg, VA
Governors Land’s setting on two rivers provides water views
and a country club lifestyle in Williamsburg, VA
The Tom Fazio-designed course at Governors Land itself has remained largely unchanged since its last major update, but in the spring of 2026 the community completed an award-winning, $13 million central clubhouse transformation.
The project significantly elevated the overall golf experience by expanding and completely redesigning the pro shop servicing the course. In addition, the club added new member lounges and terraces.
