Golf and waterview communities on Florida’s southeast coast “dodged a bullet” when Hurricane Irma was pushed west by a Bermuda high last weekend, sparing the communities major damage.

Ann Jara, Broker in Charge at Quail Ridge in Boynton Beach, reported that the community was in good shape with just branches down. “We have no flooding,” Jara said, “and our new clubhouse is unaffected. We are having a complimentary cookout today. Power has been restored to nearly all of the community. The golf course opens tomorrow.”
There was similar good news from Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club in Palm City, and from Sailfish Point which is located at the southernmost tip of Hutchinson Island on southeast Florida’s Atlantic coast, also in Stuart.

“We got lucky once again,” says Kristen Cheskaty, the broker/managing partner at Sailfish Point. “Most of our facilities are up and running. There’s just clean-up. No building was damaged and we’ve had power on since Monday.”

And brokers/residents Kathy Stein and Gwen Deisler at Harbour Ridge echoed the Hurricane Irma reports: “The yacht club (on the St. Lucie River) is undamaged, docks and boats are okay. The golf course opened today and clubhouse and other buildings are undamaged. Some trees are down but they are being cleared up.”

Piper’s Landing suffered only tree damage & some power loss.
And here’s a statement from the folks in charge at Piper’s Landing Yacht and Country Club in Palm City which is next to Stuart: “Piper’s Landing on the SE coast of Florida wants to wish all the people who lost their homes and possessions our deepest sympathies. We realize how lucky we were in missing the full force of the storm.
“Pipers had a lot of wind related tree damage but nothing to our homes or our 49-slip marina which is considered one of the safest moorings on the east coast of Florida. The homes on the west side did not even lose power other than the occasional off and on cycles.
“We were back open for food, golf, and tennis on Wednesday after giving our staff the additional time to deal with their own situations first before restoring the full operations of our club. All the families of Pipers Landing wish everyone in Irma’s path a speedy recovery.”
