Sea Pines Resort, SC: Sea turtle nests protected, studied.
> Sea Pines Resort, Hilton Head Island SC reports that its non–profit partner organization, Sea Turtle Patrol Hilton Head, is currently conducting a turtle nest inventory with the help of volunteer Sea Pines residents. A nest inventory is a required step under the group’s permit from the state Department of Natural Resources.
Each nest is excavated several days after it has hatched naturally. Contents are examined, classified and counted, with the results reported to the department’s Marine Turtle Conservation Program. Send me more information about Sea Pines!
