The event is titled, “Atlanta’s Margaret Mitchell House: The Surprising Preservation Journey.” Dave Thomas, historian and professional docent, will narrate the program.

Callawassie Island Helps Out
Callawassie Island, SC: Reports on charitable efforts.
> Callawassie Island, SC received a year-end report from resident leaders of the Friends of Callawassie Island charitable committee detailing financial grants made in December to worthy local causes.
Totaling $19,200, these grants included $3,500 to provide temporary shelter and family stability for the homeless, $2,000 to help purchase PPE equipment for caregivers due to health and safety concerns and $2,500 to help provide delivery of meals to senior citizens who are homebound due to COVID-19. In addition the committee made a gift of $4,000 to the St. Stephen Outreach Foodbank to help fund food purchases. Send me more information about Callawassie Island!
Dataw Island Honored
Dataw Island, SC: Helps veterans with events, more.
> Dataw Island, SC is pleased to report that a nationally recognized non-profit group, Tee It Up for the Troops, recently named the Dataw Island community 2020 winner of its “Step It Up for Heroes Challenge.” The announcement came at the end of the community’s annual Veterans Week, held every November.
This year, the week-long event raised $53,775 for distribution to Tee It Up for the Troops and various local veterans’ organizations. As part of the festivities, Dataw Island’s head golf professional, Chris Fearn, conducted his traditional one-man Golf Marathon, fighting wind and rain to set a new, personal record of 227 holes golfed in one day.
