This year was an important one for Golf Course Home in which visitor traffic was up more than 20 percent and interest in our Featured Communities reached a three-year high.

The Year’s Most Popular Communities & States
> WindRiver, TN: Offers waterfront and golf course living.
Over the course of 2017, 17 different golf and waterview communities from seven states took turns appearing among the Top 5 Most Viewed Communities each month. Five communities made it into the No. 1 spot, creating the most competitive race for Community of the Year in four years. Florida was the most represented state with nine communities making at least once appearance in the Top 5.

In addition to the Sunshine State, communities located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Nevada and Pennsylvania also made it into the Top 5. And, unlike last year when a Florida community was the No. 1 community in each month for the entire year, other states gained time at the first position.
However, the overall No. 1 most popular state that was searched for golf and waterview communities was the state of Florida. NEW CONSTRUCTION MAKES NEWS
Two of the most anticipated events of the year were the respective openings of a new clubhouse and new course at Quail Ridge and The Club at Ibis. Ibis was especially festive with course designer Jack Nicklaus visiting the club on Wednesday, December 13 to officially reopen the Legend Course in front of more than 400 members.
Golf Course Home had been following the progress of the construction of the Quail Ridge clubhouse all year long. 2017 came to a fitting finish with the doors opening at the spanking brand new building just a few weeks ago.

Progress on Woodside’s New Hollow Creek Course Reinforces Its Commitment to Golf

Ibis was especially festive with course designer Jack Nicklaus visiting the club on Wednesday, December 13 to officially reopen the Legend Course in front of more than 400 members.
Golf Course Home had been following the progress of the construction of the Quail Ridge clubhouse all year long. 2017 came to a fitting finish with the doors opening at the spanking brand new building just a few weeks ago.

Legend Course Reopens at The Club at Ibis with Visit by Jack Nicklaus
in Building and Construction, News, VisitsGolf legend Jack Nicklaus was at The Club at Ibis on Wednesday, December 13 to officially reopen the aptly-named Legend Course in front of more than 400 members. Nicklaus built the course in 1991 and his renovation featured the changes in the sport of golf and Nicklausā design philosophy during the last quarter century.
āWhen I built this course, there were no trees or houses here,ā Nicklaus said before hitting the ceremonial first shot (down the middle of the No. 1 fairway). āWe lengthened it from the back tees and shortened it from the front. We did a whole bunch of things to make it more pleasurable for the members here at Ibis. What you have is a modern golf course.ā
Major Renovations to Legend Course
The par-72 Legend Course, which hosted the Office Depot on the LPGA Tour from 1997-2000, was lengthened from the tips by more than 300 yards, to 7,442. The shortest tees measure slightly more than 4,500 yards. Nicklaus also took out a lot of the waste areas he used to frame the original design.
All of the greens were re-contoured and the fairways re-grassed. āWe tried to increase the strategy members can use,ā Nicklaus said. āI think we made it a much better golf course.ā Send me more information about The Club at Ibis!
Nicklaus lives 15 minutes away from The Club at Ibis, allowing him to make many trips during the renovation. That personal touch came through with his renovation.
Family Connection, Professional Instruction
The Club at Ibis remains the only place in the world that features three golf courses by different members of the Nicklaus family. Sons Jack II designed The Heritage and Steve designed The Tradition.
As part of the dayās ceremonies, PGA Tour star Daniel Berger did a clinic for Ibisās members with Director of Golf Instruction Martin Hall. Berger, ranked 28th in the world, is the son of Ibisās new Director of Tennis Instruction, Jay Berger. Send me more information about The Club at Ibis!
