The Villages, FL: Gearing up for College Colors Day.
> The Villages, Lady Lake FL is getting ready to celebrate College Colors Day, a late-summer tradition at the community in preparation for a new NCAA college football season. This year’s event will take place Fri., Sept. 3 in the Spanish Springs Town Square from 6 to 8 p.m.
Festivities begin with an announcement of the winners of event’s charitable cause, the College Colors Day Funds for Food. In addition there will be trophies for Best Dressed and Best School Spirit. > Sea Trail Plantation, Sunset Beach NC is reminding residents that the Sea Trail Men’s Golf Association will conduct its annual support activities for the local First Tee affiliate the week of Aug. 19-23. STMGA will hold a Tuesday tournament in which members contribute $20 instead of the standard $8 entry, with excess funds going to the First Tee Coastal Carolinas.
It will also hold its annual collection of golf items on Tuesday afternoon. Cash or check donations are also welcome, along with pro shop merchandise certificates. BioBlitz at Oldfield, SC
Oldfield, SC: Hosts BioBlitz project.
> Oldfield, Okatie SC gathered a dozen residents for a group photo last month marking the completion of their one-day Golf Course BioBlitz project. The volunteers managed to record an impressive total of 247 species of flora and fauna on the community’s Greg Norman-designed championship golf course property.
Oldfield is an Audubon International Sanctuary course and residents there annually conduct a BioBlitz as part of the fulfillment of Sanctuary-status requirements. Send me more information about Oldfield!
