The Landings Golf Teacher Earns Award
The Landings, GA: Golf teaching pro wins award.
> The Landings, Savannah GA congratulates its golf club’s head teaching professional, Carol Preisinger, on her receipt of the Ellen Griffin Rolex Award for 2022. The Ellen Griffin Rolex Award, instituted by the LPGA in 1989 to honor the late teaching professional Ellen Griffin.
The award recognizes an individual, male or female, who made a major contribution to the teaching of golf and emulates Griffin’s spirit, love and dedication to students, teachers, teaching skills and the game of golf. Preisinger graduated with a psychology degree in 1984 from the University of Georgia, where she also played on the golf team. Send me more information about The Landings!

Desert Mountain, AZ Charity Raises $1.2M
Desert Mountain, AZ: Raises impressive amount for charity.
> Desert Mountain, Scottsdale AZ announced last week that CARE, the Desert Mountain-based charity that funds breakthrough cancer research in greater Phoenix, had raised a record-breaking $1.2 million in donations for fiscal year 2021-22.
For CARE (Cancer Awareness through Research and Education), now in its 25th year, the CARE fund’s 2021-22 total is 45 percent more than the program had ever raised in a previous year.
CARE will present checks to the Mayo Clinic of Arizona and HonorHealth Research Institute in June to help fund innovative cancer research projects. Send me more information about Desert Mountain!

Indian River Colony Club, FL: Continuing charity efforts for vets.

Quilts for Kids at Dataw Island, SC
Dataw Island, SC: Donating quilts to Head Start kids.
> Dataw Island, SC held a presentation ceremony last week for its Dataw Island Quilters activity group, as some 50 hand-sewn children’s quilts were donated to St. Helena Early Learning Center, a Head Start preschool program.
The quilts are provided to three-year-olds at the start of the school year and the same quilt remains with them for their years in the program. Staff members wash the quilts weekly, so the children have them for each day’s naptime. When a child leaves the program, they will take their quilt with them. Sea Pines Resort, SC: Installs Fresnel lens in lighthouse.
> Sea Pines Resort, Hilton Head Island SC announced the installation of a genuine Fresnel lens in the iconic Harbour Town Lighthouse. The red-and-white striped Lighthouse serves not only as a beacon to the many ships that reside in the Yacht Basin but also as a landmark that symbolizes the region and the resort.
Developed in the 1820s to greatly increase luminosity of lighthouse beams, Fresnel lenses have been called “the invention that saved a million ships.” They are also considered museum-quality pieces of art. Send me more information about Sea Pines!
