Oldfield, SC Earns Audubon Recognition

Oldfield, SC: Earns distinctive Audubon status.

> Oldfield, Okatie SC was informed last week that the Oldfield Club private golf amenity had been rectified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, an Audubon International program.

Oldfield has been an Audubon “Neighborhood for Nature and a Certified Sanctuary Golf Course since 2004, as well as a Certified Audubon Sustainable Community” since 2018. After designation, courses go through a recertification process every three years.  Send me more information about Oldfield!

Indian River Colony Club, FL Completes Renovation

Indian River Colony Club, FL Renovating a range of amenities.

> Indian River Colony Club, Melbourne-Viera FL announced that the community’s comprehensive renovation of its tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, bocce courts and surrounding recreation area has been completed.

During the half million-dollar renovation process, the community’s three Har-Tru tennis courts were completely replaced and an underground HydroCourt self-regulating irrigation system installed.

The courts are protected by a new tennis windscreen and the existing bocce courts were resurfaced using artificial turf.

With these improvements and an upgrade of the shuffleboard courts with interlocking VersaCourt tiles, all courts in the complex are now considered professional-level playing surfaces.  Send me more information about Indian River Colony Club!

> Ford’s Colony, Williamsburg VA  and its Activities Committee invites community residents to take part in an afternoon-long Wellness Fair, scheduled for Fri., Feb. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the S&T Club gathering space.

Palmetto Bluff, SC: Conservancy hosts event this month.

> Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton SC and the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy will host a Brown Bag Lunch presentation titled “Reconstruction Era in Beaufort County” on Wed., Feb. 26 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Conservancy Classroom.

Led by a park ranger from the Reconstruction Era National Historical Park in nearby Beaufort, the session will explore the role of Beaufort County in post-Civil War Reconstruction, sometimes referred to as  the ‘Second Founding’ of the United States.
