> Palmetto Bluff, Bluffton SC continues its long-running Artist in Residence program with a series of mid-August events featuring the month’s resident artist, custom haymaker Mary Landrum Pyron.
On Thur., Aug. 11 from 2 to 5 p.m in the community’s FLOW Gallery, Ms. Landrum will conduct a Custom Hat Workshop, demonstrating the craft of felt hat finishing.

Callawassie Island, SC: Course renovations in the works.
> Callawassie Island, SC has begun a planned three-year program of extensive renovations to its 27 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf. Key components of the project include restoration of the putting surfaces back to USGA-recommended root-zone profiles, repair of approaches and green surrounds to ensure adequate drainage, plus the expansion and reshaping and re-grassing of tee complexes.
A full redesign of the practice facility will also be executed. At all times during the work, 18 holes of golf will be open for member play. Send me more information about Callawassie Island!
